The Oinoxenia festival
The Oinoxenia festival started in 2013, with the aim of highlighting one of the most important wine-growing regions of the country, that of Aigialeia, with a unique synergy between the wine, gastronomy, culture, entertainment and hospitality of the region.
For the 11th consecutive year, the Municipality of Aigialeia and the Wine Quality Network organize a multi-year and special festival that is characterized as an innovative cultural and gastronomic journey through its landscapes and flavors, with many events of high aesthetics, such as wine tours, visiting wineries, concerts and artistic events , wine tasting events and culinary experiences for wine lovers and beyond. The Oinoxeneia festival is organized with the hosts of the Municipality of Aigialeia and the wineries of the region, in cooperation with organizations and businesses with vision and goals for the development of the region. The international recognition of the Festival came in 2024 through the words and the statement made at the opening event by the invited President of the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe "Iter Vitis", Mrs Emanuela Panke. The President of the Iter Vitis route expressed great enthusiasm for the quality and the rich cultural program of the Oinoxeneia festival and described it as an example for other European countries to emulate. She characterized the festival not only as a mere ceremonial moment, but a recognition of the deep connection between the land of Aigialeia and the ancient heritage of viticulture that binds us all. Aigialeia with its rich traditions and the Festival of Wineries embodies values which resonate deeply in Iter Vitis. Wine is not just a product of the land or the skill of the winemaker, it is a symbol of our identity, our history and our culture over the millennia. As always, the events were spread out in the city or in idyllic spots close to nature with the visitors enjoying a multitude of events inspired by wine, mythology, and the joy that the wine culture offers in the landscapes of Aigialeia and the adjacent Kalavryta.
