Municipality of Aigialeia Participates in the 1st Annual Meeting of the Iter Vitis Cultural Route in Kastoria

The Municipality of Aigialeia, an official member of the Iter Vitis Cultural Route of the Council of Europe since 2023, participated in the 1st Annual Meeting of Greek members in Kastoria (June 28-30, 2024).

The event was co-organized by the Municipality of Kastoria, the Directorate of International Relations & EU Affairs of the Ministry of Culture, and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kastoria. The meeting welcomed notable figures, including Iter Vitis President Emanuela Panke and officials from the Ministry of Culture. Members showcased their wine-related initiatives, while archaeologists presented historical findings on viticulture from antiquity to the post-Byzantine period. The Municipality of Aigialeia highlighted the Oinoxeneia Festival – Landscapes and Flavors of Aigialeia, held for the past 10 years. The presentation emphasized the region’s unique terroir, exceptional wines, and the historic cultivation of Vostitsa Corinthian raisins. Mayor Dimitrios Kalogeropoulos stressed that viticulture is deeply rooted in Aigialeia’s cultural identity, while Deputy Mayor Vasilis Christopoulos highlighted that Iter Vitis membership enhances international recognition of Aigialeia’s winemaking heritage. During the meeting, Emanuela Panke awarded the official Iter Vitis membership certificate to the Municipality of Aigialeia. Discussions included the creation of a Digital Portal for Greek members and the decision to host the 2nd Annual Meeting in Aigio in 2025.
